There are no set rules about the content of a traditional Afternoon Tea menu, but it usually consists of sandwiches and a variety of sweet items. A typical menu might read:

  • A variety of home made pastries, fruit cake and biscuits.
  • Your choice from a range of teas.

Peppermint teaA ‘Cream Tea' usually consists of scones, clotted cream and preserves served with a pot of tea. Many fine hotels also offer set menus that can include a glass of champagne, for that special occasion.

The range of teas on offer can vary from half a dozen to over a hundred, including some very rare blends. Some of the most common teas on offer will include: Assam, Darjeeling, Earl Grey, English Breakfast, Lapsong Souchong or a herbal tea such as Peppermint..
